USE YOUR GIFTS TO SERVE OTHERS
Have you ever been walking around your house and stubbed your toe? The pain didn’t just stay in the toe. How could something that small have such an impact on the rest of the members of your body? Paul addresses this same issue in 1 Corinthians 12:24-27. He writes, “But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”
What Paul wants us to understand is that we are all part of one body and each one of us has a specific function. Each member of the body serves a purpose and together they serve each other. When they all function together, the body can accomplish things that each individual part couldn’t on its own.
1 Peter 4:10 further addresses this point when Peter says, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
Peter is telling us the gifts God has given us are for us to use to serve others. The time, talent and treasure God has blessed us with is to be used to bless others. Jesus came to serve us in order that we could be saved. Because of this, we should serve others in order that they too can be saved.
At The Rock, we believe that "Saved People Serve People." We encourage our members to get involved in serving and commit to helping us on our journey to spread the Gospel throughout the City of Laurel.
